With the growth of online poker it has created a new kind of player which it would seem is somewhat more aggressive in the style of play than in the days when players were limited to games once a week in their basement or on annual trips to Las Vegas. Many of the new breed of online poker players try to imitate what they see on television with the World Poker Tour or World Series of Poker and they constantly try and recreate the climactic moment of those productions on nearly every hand.
Bluffing is far more prevalent in online poker than at the tables of the Bellagio or Wynn in Las Vegas. But, there are no eyes to read, no trembling hands to assess, and it’s theoretically easier to pull off a bluff online. Bluffing is of course bold and exciting and takes brass to go through with. But at the same time bluffing is most effective when rarely employed. Constant bluffing becomes the ultimate poker tell and the best online poker players can read bluffs like a dog smells a rabbit Bad bluffing can also have the adverse affect of causing a player to go on tilt once his bluff blows.
