If you have never played bingo in a professional hall before but want to give it a go there are some simple do’s and don’ts that are worth considering before you go. Bingo halls may vary in terms of their rules so the first thing you should do is to read the rules on display before starting the game.
Generally, most halls only accept players that are aged 18 or over. The management do not like players bringing their own food and drink since this is usually on sale. As of 1st July 2007 it is illegal to smoke in any UK Bingo hall.
Only purchase as many cards as you can handle. You may see some Bingo veterans with multiple cards but remember that they are very experienced regulars. Concentrate on what the caller is saying as they shout the numbers. If one of your numbers is called, mark the card carefully with the markers supplied. They are specially designed so the numbers marked can still be seen.
While the main objective is to have a good time, it is bad form to chat incessantly throughout the game. Also, repeating numbers after they have been called will distract other players. Remember that Bingo, like many games of luck and chance, is shrouded in superstition, don’t be surprised if you are asked to give up your seat to a regular who regards it as lucky.
Finally, if you do win accept your prize gracefully and don’t rub it in. Alternatively, offer congratulations when other players win.
your ticket book normally has 6 cards down unless you get a half book
