Online poker giant 888.com and their sponsored player Shane Warne came under fire over the weekend. Shane is alleged to have offered his 40,000 plus twitters followers $8 free bankroll in a tweet which read; “All my followers get free 8 dollars poker money by signing up here.”Warne and 888 immediately came under fire from church leaders who said that the tweet could influence children who look up to the former cricket legend. Warne’s agent responded by saying Warne was not aware of the tweet.
A great gambler Shane Warne is also a great poker player as well and of course his cricketing achievements are legend. Never shy of publicity he recently played poker with Big Brother star Shilpa Shetty who remarked, “I learned to play poker a year back, it’s an interesting mind game where you try and play the opponents’ cards. Sometimes when the players are relaxing, we have a game or two for fun.” So now you know!

The world of gambling has really opened up over the past few years, and there has never been a better time to stake a small or large sum of money and hopefully make a killing.
It used to be regarded as somewhat sleazy to go into a betting shop in the local high street, but since restrictions were lifted some years back there is no longer a taboo attached.
Betting shops are now clean, professional looking affairs, with comfortable seating and multiple large TV screens on the wall, to make your gambling a pleasant and enjoyable, as well as an exciting experience.
At one time the glamour seemed restricted to the West End casinos, and a tuxedo was essential wear for the style-conscious man-about-town gambler with a ton of cash to spare. These days the world of James Bond is open to anyone, and you don’t even have to leave your house to experience the thrills and spills, with a veritable explosion of Internet websites devoted to every form of gambling you could imagine. The technology and download speeds have improved so much that whatever your game you’ll find it online, and software security ensures that your personal details are as safe as houses.
Ladbrokes, William Hill and all the other familiar names from the high street have their Internet presence, so there’s nothing stopping you staking a few quid and chancing your luck at any time of the day or night.

Online poker room Full Tilt Poker are being targeted by officials in the state of Kentucky led by J. Michael Brown, Kentucky’s governor-appointed secretary for justice, who has in the past targeted Full Tilt together with more than 100 other internet addresses, arguing that the domain names were gambling devices that could be forfeited under state law. Mr Brown won the initial round in that suit and has been battling in appellate courts since then.
The poker site is US oriented and the plan is that if successful, they would recover five years’ of losses by residents of the state. The first such case brought in the US suggests that even if Congress moves towards legalising internet gambling, the prospects will be murky for companies that have continued to serve the US market even after the ban imposed in 2006.

If you enjoy gambling and predicting outcomes within certain sports or events, you will be pleased to hear that many betting companies offer different incentives and free bets to new and existing customers.
High street betting shops and online gambling websites offer customers the opportunity to gamble on many different sports, such as boxing, football, rugby, cricket, basketball, golf, tennis, badminton and horseracing. Customers are also able to place bets on events such as political elections and television shows. The different type of bets available varies depending upon the events. For example if you are betting on football you may choose to place a wager on the number of goals scored in the match. However if you are watching a reality television show you could bet on who the winner will be.
Many betting companies offer free gifts from time to time. Customers may be able to enjoy a free bet that they have received in their newspaper. You will usually receive either a coupon to use in a high street betting shop, or a code to enter on a betting website.
If you use online betting websites you will find that there are many different incentives available for signing up with a new gambling website. New customers will usually receive a free bet to use on the website. This will normally be available once you deposit a certain amount of money with the website. Current customers of websites are also sometimes offered gifts for referring new members to the website.

While sports betting and online gambling are fairly large industries in the UK and the rest of the world, the United States has always had a different view on the legality of betting on sports games or other sports-related activities. In addition, spread betting is considered illegal in most states, despite the fact that playing the stock market is legal. In 1992 the United States put into place The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, which effectively set out to define the legalization of sports betting throughout the country, outlawing sports betting across the entire nation with the exception of a few states.
While there are licensed sports pools in Nevada, as well as Oregon and Delaware, the other states are in compliance with the act, effectively making sports betting illegal throughout the U.S. This has proven a somewhat difficult law to maintain considering the fact that the internet allows individuals access to online betting sites across the globe, but it is something to keep in mind if you do happen to be visiting the United States. While certain sports are exempt from the act, such as jai alai and pari-mutuel horse and dog racing, all the other traditional sports betting that individuals from the UK or other nations may be used to as part of the norm are considered punishable offenses under U.S. law. If you happen to be heading to the United States anytime in the near future, be aware that different states have different rules, so do your homework before you go in order to avoid being penalized.

The bingo industry and community breathed a sigh of relief last week as the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, confirmed in his Budget speech that the Bingo Duty is set to be reduced from 22% to 20%. However, the bingo industry is still feeling hard done by, considering other gambling sectors only have to pay duty at a rate of 15%.
This is an issue which is very close to the hearts of those at Gala Bingo, who, instead of just complaining about the inequity have been campaigning hard on this issue and lobbying MPs, but now they are asking all those who support their campaign to sign up to their ‘Bingo Bond’. This will be presented to MPs and all candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections to ask for their support to create a fairer tax system for the gambling community. It is time that bingo was on the agenda since it is such a huge part of daily life in the UK for so many.
So far more than 30 MPs have already pledged their support, which is understandable considering that MPs must realise that the online bingo industry actually generates over £100 million in taxes for this country every single year, not to mention the millions in stake money flowing through the economy. As the country continues to struggle its way out of a serious recession the government must recognise the important role that bingo has to play.

Decide whether you want to play poker to win or to play for fun. To play at a consistently winning level requires both time and effort. In other words, it takes work. There is nothing wrong with playing poker for fun, but there is no reason to plan to lose, even when you are playing for fun. However, deciding which type of poker player you want to be before you start will make your decisions and sessions easier.
Of course the first thing that you must do before you play poker is to find a poker school, traditionally this was to be found in a land based casino, but today it is more likely that you will be downloading an online casino, such as 888.com where you will enjoy a wide variety of casino games in addition to online poker. At your chosen online poker room you will be able to choose from all the popular forms of poker, Texas Hold’em being the one that most players prefer. Play sensibly and have fun.

Log on to William Hill, Ladbrokes, or any one of the hundreds of other online betting sites to open up a whole new world of Internet gambling opportunities. You can stake anything from a few quid on the horses and other sports betting opportunities, to many thousands of pounds in the VIP areas of Vegas style casino websites.
Everything is done to make your online betting experience a pleasant and hopefully profitable one, with colourful and attractive graphics highlighting promotions and special offers for newcomers to draw you in. The sites also have clear instructions on how to join up and start betting for real money. There is usually the opportunity to have a few dry runs first to see how you like it, but once you have registered there’ll be far more online gambling opportunities available.
Some sites tend to concentrate on a particular Internet gambling strategy. William Hill specialises in a comprehensive range of sports betting, and there are casino sites devoted to games such as blackjack, roulette and poker. But for the average hobby player it makes sense to join one of the many online gambling sites that offer a large range of games and online betting opportunities.
Bingo and slots are generally ubiquitous, as are the hundreds of entertaining quickie games such as ‘Treasure Hunt’, and they all carry a possible cash prize. These can be indulged in for light relief between the main sessions of your favourites, just as in Mecca clubs. There are even members’ social areas where you can have a real time chat with other players.
