While the Internet offers an attractive alternative to visiting a traditional bingo hall, there are still chains operating around the UK.
One of the largest is Gala Bingo with over 180 sites throughout the UK and a 40% share of the market. By pre-arrangement Gala will organise a party on site for a special occasion such as a hen night or a birthday. They also offer special promotions such as ‘Mega Monday’ where all books of 4 cost £5.99 in the afternoon or £9.99 in the evening.
Another large well known chain is Mecca Bingo, part of the Rank Group. Mecca has 124 bingo halls all over the UK. They offer regular club promotions such as ‘Super Sundays’ or ‘Grand Nights Out’ where large prizes are on offer.
Carlton Bingo Clubs is a chain of 19 bingo halls covering Scotland and Northeast England. Their halls offer a range of slot machines as well as bingo and their Livingston bingo hall has a fully licensed bar.
Deluxe Bingo Clubs is a chain of 4 sites in Eastbourne, Folkstone, Southend and Hastings. They launched the ‘Diamond Club’, an exclusive club for over 60’s, in 2007. On Monday and Thursday afternoons over 60’s get £3 discounts off their books, free lunch before 1pm, a free grocery game and access to social events and coach trips.
While these chains are still operating in the UK, the companies behind them recognize the growing popularity of online bingo. As such they all offer online bingo games via their websites.
